Use a part/part whole diagram to solve one of these math stories:
A) I rang the doorbell 87 times today. I rang it 49 times in the morning. How many times did I ring it in the afternoon?
B) An artist painted 50 paintings. 38 of them are of boats and all the rest are of sunsets. How many paintings are of sunsets?
C) A store sells 90 cellphones over the weekend. They sold 34 on Saturday. How many did they sell on Sunday?
D) My friend and I ate 54 fruit snacks. I ate 26. How many fruit snacks did my friend eat?

i did 59-100 and it =51 there
ReplyDeleteI did 59 +25 and it didn't work. Then I did 59 +34 and that also didn't work. I did 59 + 49 because I knew 9+1 is 10 and the 1 goes to the next place value and 5+4 is 9 and +1 is 1, so that makes 10 tens which is 100.
ReplyDeleteI did 54 + 18 right away because I knew 4 + 8 is 12 and that makes the 5 in the tens place be a 6 and + another one is 7. 54 + 18 = 72
First I went to the 100s chart and I counted from 59 and I went to 60, then I counted by 10s and it was 40 and I went to 99 , I tried 41 and it was 100.
